Wash your face for a full 60 seconds

The 60 second rule for washing your face is a hot topic right now on social media – everyone is obsessed. It was first highlighted by LA-based esthetician Nayamka Roberts-Smith late last year when she advised her followers to wash their face for 60 seconds straight for it to be more impactful and effective.

Speaking to Cosmo, she said, "Makeup, dirt, and oil are a lot more difficult to remove from the skin most people realize. So not only do you want to give the cleanser a chance to break down and dissolve products and grime, but taking 60 seconds also makes you pay attention to your skin and what you’re doing—like remembering to cleanse around the edges of your nose, under your chin, and around your hairline."

Cleansing for a full 60 seconds instead of the typical 10-15 seconds allows the ingredients in the cleanser to actually work and penetrate the skin. It softens skin and dissolves sebum blockages better. If you've got lacklustre skin, washing for a lengthier time will help to improve texture, evenness and brightness of skin. The process of massaging your skin is also beneficial in stimulating circulation which provides a healthy and natural glow.

Try massaging either our Aloe + Lemon Face Wash or Mandarin Cleansing Oil into your skin for 60 seconds everyday for a month and you should notice a difference in the glow and clarity of your skin. If you've got sensitive skin, you might find that a full 60 seconds is too intense, so only do it for as long as it feels comfortable.
