Why Keke Palmer thinks skincare starts at the neck

In a recent viral video, Keke Palmer was seen admiring and complimenting Nia Long's smooth neck. They briefly discuss which product Nia uses but more importantly, Nia shares that she started using a neck cream when she was just 20.

My mum also taught me when I was younger that we should always extend our skincare down to our neck and upper chest. As we get older, the neck becomes one of the first places to show signs of aging (especially if you don't give that area the same love and attention as you give your face).

It's obviously never too late to start doing it and yes, it's another step in your skincare routine but I promise you'll thank me later!

Why the neck is important

As we get older, a bunch of skin changes occur: our collagen and elastin decline leading to looser, thinner skin. The neck naturally has less supportive tissue and fewer oil glands meaning the area wrinkles more easily and heals slower. Essentially, you'll see more horizontal neck lines, crepey, thin-looking skin, and a loss of firmness which will result in sagging.

While skincare can't completely stop aging, extending your routine down to your neck and upper chest can definitely help slow visible changes and maintain skin quality.

Regardless of which skincare you choose, make sure you bring your toner, actives, oils etc all the way down from your forehead to your upper chest to give your skin lasting support!
